Third Advent

Was faithfully following the advent mass, so it was the Third Advent last Sunday at St John The Baptist Church last Sunday

.....one more candle to be lighted which means last Advent Sunday and which also means that I have to start packing and leave UK and leave son#2 behind too.

Glad that hubby is following me for all the 3 Advent Sundays at St John The Baptist Church. He usually only goes to church on Easter and Christmas back home.

St John The Baptist Church, Burnley

Went with hubby for a mass at St John the Baptist Church at Bracewell Street, Burnley, which is just 2 minutes walk from where we stay. Nice old church with lots of old people there. Very few youths there. No wonder people are telling me that in Malaysia we can still find lots of youths attending mass but not in other European countries!!

In UK during communion, we are all given wine to drink even for small kids:

See... I told you lots of old people attending the mass:

The mass is short and sweet, less than an hour. If only we can attend the Easter Vigil mass here...too bad we are leaving here on Christmas Eve to catch our flight home on Christmas Day...sigh

Bradford University Chapliancy

Entrance to the chapel, place for holy water:

Inside the chapel:

Choir practising for the mass:

The 14 Stations of the cross in the chapel:

We attended a mass at the chaplaincy hosted by an African Father and the resident priest Father Dennis. The mass and the singing is exactly like what we have back at home except for singing the Holy Holy part, here they sang the African version of it. And also here we all get to drink the wine from the chalice during communion.

Father Dennis and his homily:

After mass, this is the place where we all go to this cosy basement, Melting Pot Bar, to have a free cup of hot coffee or tea and free biscuits.

Love this picture on the wall, the Melting Pot Bar does serve wine, beer and Guinness every Friday night .
