An over the sea trip

Tomorrow we, 11 half centurions and a teenager are going to fly over the sea from the tip of Borneo Island to the other tip...Kota Kinabalu. The journey was planned in October 2007 when my friend Mary was sitting down and "examining' the 2008 school calender and out of the blue like Christopher Columbus, she discovered that we will be have a long break starting from tomorrow ( Prophet Muhammad's birthday) till Easter Monday.
Hence we booked Air Asia( 12 tickets all in all) at the cost of RM149.99pp for a return trip. We have so much time in planning our trip that we even sent this message to the cows in KK, to kindly request them to get started running on treadmill in order for us to enjoy lean and muscular beef meatball mee :

It is sure going to be an enjoyable trip when you go travelling with all our close buddies. BTW, any recommendations of what to eat and visit while in KK?

Our tour itinerary includes:
Day 1. Arrive KK at 10.25 pm - programme - sleep
Day 2 Kinabalu National park and Poring Hot springs
Day 3: Manukan Island
Day 4: KK city tour and Shopping
Day 5: Last minute shopping then fly home

Wrong place, wrong time....

Continued from last post...

The phone rang and it was from my SIL telling me that my BIL had an accident and was at the emergency clinic in the General hospital. On the way to the hospital, me and my husband were very worried about my BIL because he was riding a motorbike and as you know motorbike does not give much protection to the rider. Moreover I am damn scared at the sight of blood which will make me faint.

When we reached there, we saw my BIL on the wheel chair with blood on his right foot.

The doctor asked for his foot to be x-rayed and thanks God , all the bones are intact and okay.

But the unluckiest thing is when he fell from his motorbike while hitting the Honda car was... his foot cut the bumper of the car and his sole was sliced apart by the bumper metal like the slipper below:

When you are soi (unlucky), you will be indeed be very soi lor cos of all the days, that afternoon all the hospital attendants involved are having a seminar. Hence he had to bear the pain for 2 hours and then another 2 more hours to stitch up that came off sole of his.....all in all 40+ stitches!!

( seminar in progress so the door was locked)

At the moment he is still on wheel chair and the pain he suffered everyday is terrible pain since the wound is from one side of the foot to the other side!!But he sure is a tough man... if me , I really don't know what I will do under those pains!!
And it will be months before he can walk on his 2 feet again.

What a day!

I blogged that I am not so excited about PTK examinations, it must be self denial.Because yesterday morning before I went for my PTK exam, when I took my fasting blood sugar it was a whooping 7.5 mmol/L, my highest since Jan 2007 !! That shows the stress, the nervousness of sitting for that examination. Last night I told hubby that if today fasting blood sugar is still that high then I will go back to my Chinese physician to have my prescriptions...but luckily this morning test was only 6.2 mmol/L.

Talking about PTK... LOL... one of the persons who set the paper must be a fansee of Maverick cos for one of the questions which sounds like: Which is the following does not show a leader's integrity:
B. Cakap Tak Serupa Bikin or is that question set by Maverick ??. haha

When we enrolled for our PTK test that day , husband was in Bintulu for sports. I rang him and asked him what subject to enrol for his Kompetensi paper, he say chin-chai lar...but there is no chin-chai on the list...he had sat for pengajaran-pembelajaran for donkey years already , then sat PJK paper for another few donkey years but still cannot get IV!! Hence for his chin-chai paper this time, I chose pengajaran-pembelajaran Pendidikan Khas for him hoping that, that will be an easier one...who knows he says yesterday paper only 10 questions about pendidikan khas ...the rest ( 30 questions) is still P&P for classroom teaching and worst things all the multiple choices there has more than 2 or 3 answers which seems all correct correct correct to teachers like us...but we can choose only one answer!!!!

Came back from PTK examination, thinking of going to one of those more standard places like Manhanttan Fish Market, Secret Recipe ....to have self celebration but the high sugar level put me off..hence come back and cooked coarse rice to eat.

After lunch, Just as I was dropping my head and wanted to take a good nap...the telephone rang and I had to rush to the hospital...... ( to be continued...)

Yu Hee The Witch

Instead of studying for my PTK, I am watching this on 8TV online. In Sarawak we do not have 8TV but at least we can stream and watch this Korean movie online for free.It has been ages since I glued myself to Korean movies and now being holiday I start my addiction again.

Nice movie...go and check it out.

PTK...oh PTK

Even though it is school holiday for mid semester break but every night me and my friends' houses lights are on till early morning...why le?? Cos we are studying hard...damn hard for our PTK examination which will be held on 13th March ( unlucky date so chances of getting a IV is only 0.000000000000001%)

So you do believe that we have been studying hard and real hard...?

Now let me show you all my results so far after sitting for that PTK for the last 4 years...

30/12/2004 UMUM-III
KHUSUS- IV

29/12/2005 UMUM -III

2006 UMUM -III

07/06/2007 UMUM -III

13/03/2008 UMUM -???

In case you are wondering what those III and IV are :

IV means 80% and above.Out of 40 objective questions which means we cannot get more than 8 questions wrong!!

III means 60% to 79%

II means 50% to 59%

I means 49% and below...meaning die...si...mati....死

The worst thing is........ the 40 objective questions has nothing to do with teaching, no matter how good my teaching or even IF I am the best teacher in this universe, also no use ...if you get more than 8 questions wrong in that UMUM paper!!

Never mind looking at the bright side of things... 6 more years to retirement means 12 more chances to sit for that UMUM paper because starting this year we are allowed to sit 2X a year so if you ask me DEAL or NO DEAL I will say NO DEAL till 2013

To tell you the truth, I am not going to study at all because there is no way to study, even study still cannot get IV unless the computer screw up my entry and put my particulars wrongly....then the chances of me getting IV will be high...very high...

Election results

So we all knew by now that 5 states have gone to the opposition. On the night when the results came out , I was glued to TV1, TV2, TV3, NTV7 and also Channel News Asia to find out the results. But at the end the results were so slow and they kept showing the victory of BN in Sarawak and Sabah even though the Election Commission said that most of the results will be known by 10.30 pm.

Thanks to Sarawak Talk and Cakap Tak Serupa Bikin website which kept me updated nearly every 10 minutes with me pressing the refresh button like mad. Even NST online is faster than all those TV announcements. I tried to access Jeff Ooi website but is it a coincidence or what cos I just could not access his website the whole night. In addition to pressing the refresh button the whole night, I was also chatting online with son#1 about the election results.

Anyway, everything is over now for me at least. As I say whoever get elected will not affect me much...life still goes on for me, still need to cari makan , still need to live my days ...but those elected have to remember what they have promised to the rakyat during the election campaigns or else next election the voters will bid you goodbye.

Voting Day for Malaysia

Finally the voting day is here. I am not excited about voting at all even though I will still go and cast my vote. Whoever wins will not makes any difference to me personally...life will still go on as usual.

If BN wins, every time when the ministers pass by us on the road , the sirens will still sound and we as citizens who lined up to vote for them will still need to give way to them even though they are in no hurry at all to get from place A to Place B.
All the $$$$$ they allocated for developments here and there, will never pass through my hands and eyes too.

If DAP wins, it means more noise in parliament meetings and next time around the governing party will be more scared of the voters.

Never mind , at the back of my mind , I already know who I will vote for when I go to my polling station at 10 am to vote using that delible ink.

Choose and Vote !!

Updated: Alamak....My polling station use pencil instead of ink.....

These are macadamia nuts bought from a small town called Bintulu in Sarawak. The packet comes with a small weapon like this to open up the nuts. Guess the nuts are from China because of the name "heaven rainbow" on the weapon

Guidelines to live 100 years old in this stressful world.

An Angel says, "Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice."
1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.
5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.
10. Take one day at a time.
11. Separate worries from concerns . If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety . If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.
12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.

13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.
16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Get enough rest.
18. Eat right.
19 Get organized so everything has its place.
20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.
21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
22. Every day, find time to be alone.
23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.
24. Make friends with Godly people.
25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.
26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good "Thank you Jesus."
27. Laugh.
28. Laugh some more!
29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.
30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).
31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).
32. Sit on your ego.
33 Talk less; listen more.
34. Slow down.
35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.
36 . Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before. GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU.
"If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31)

Super Disturbing Advertisement

These few days whenever I sign into Window Live Messenger that stupid talking advertisement about "ONLY ONE CHOICE" will appear from no way!! I don't know whether you all find it good or not...it really irritates me and every time I need to quickly find that "close" button to get that lady ( sth sth Lee) who is saying...the type of unity and community bla bla bla..... to shut up...

It really lives up to its name "only one choice" that is to listen to that advertisement only everytime we sign in !!It is more like forcing us to listen to the advertisement because every time my mouse roll over that blue area , the advertisement just come on like that whenever the mouse rolls over the page.......alamak!!

Is this the way to get young people?? Do you think that is a good way to advertise???

Foochow Feast

I was in Sibu for a wedding last CNY and was invited to attend the wedding lunch at New Capitol Restaurant, Sibu. This is a very old restaurant...about 20+ years old and when I was there, there are 6 families celebrating wedding and having wedding lunch there. Seems like CNY time is the wedding season for Sibu people. The reason given is most of their relatives are home during CNY so that is a good time to get married and to meet up with all the relatives.

When I am back in Kuching, my Teochew relatives are eager to know what and how the Foochows' food are like....so the best way to show them is using this slide show:

蜗牛与黄鹂鸟

I am listening to this song: 蜗牛与黄鹂鸟 for umpteen times this morning while finding it to download to my blog for my own listening pleasure. Love this song. Good song to listen to and forget all those frustrations, unhappiness and most of all that "silly kanasai person" in this world.

Angriness rule my day

How angry: angry angry angry angry angry.....

angry with who: higher authority

angry of what: of people irresponsibilities!
of people who can only talk but cannot do their work well!!,
of people who never bother to jot down what other people tell her!
of people who likes to pass their work onto other conveniently

why angry: because people just do things at their own conveniences without taking
into account of other feelings!
because people who claims to be caring, yes caring cos they only care for
themselves only!!

I really feel like to go up to that person and say:

1. You......get lost!!
2. you are silly
3. you are kanasai
4. .....................

What will you say if you are as angry as me?

Memories

Took this typing test at Keeyit's blog and this is my report card:

25 words

Speedtest

I know I am a lousy in typing. As I took the test , this memory comes back to me. I remembered donkey years back , after my Form 5, I wanted so much to learn typing since my ambition at that time was to become a teacher and I knew typing was very essential to a teacher. At that time we all used a machine to type which is also known as a typewriter. It really needs special skills to use that machine : the way we place our fingers, the way to place the paper and to way to do the spacing and the way to roll to the correct place after we corrected our mistakes using liquid paper. I went to one of the typing school in Sibu for only a night and because of no money to pay for the fees of RM 90 per month, I quit. Life back then was hard and RM 90 means a lot to the family!

When I first started teaching and using typewriter to type my school work, it was real difficult and tough without that knowledge of typing. Typing was a big frustration. And only in the 90's when I learned to use computer I found that typing was so much easier. Thanks to computer and printer, typing now is a bliss though I can only type 25 words a minute after so many years!

My old typewriter that we bought in 1983....25 years ago liao !!

Alas....

My blood sugar has not been good ever since I returned from UK. During my whole month stay there , the readings were beautiful, always less than 6 mmol/L for my fasting blood sugar reading. That is why I could indulge myself with lots of cheese cakes, bread, chocolates and even icecream while in UK.

In January, my sugar reading was hoovering around 6 to 6.9, never below 6. Worst still being the festive season, it is food, food, nothing but food all the time.I have been taking leaves like Misai Kuching (貓鬚草) , sharp tail Pheonix (尖尾鳯) but the reading never fell below 6. For information, every morning when I woke up I made these 3 pots of drinks:

Hence last Saturday I decide to change course, I went to buy 12 kilos of guava and started to take guava juice again after a lapse of 3 months. And on top of guava juice I took raw petai , I took 8 seeds on Saturday and 8 seeds yesterday. and alas...this morning my fasting blood sugar is 5.6 mmol/L...

Ipoh Town Kopitiam

Went to the new Ipoh Town Koiptiam at Boulevard for lunch with hubby. I ordered Bean sprout Chicken Rice ( RM 7.50) plus kopi O kosong ( RM 1.70). Total Bill - RM 9.20.

The rice is just plain rice. Bean sprout are not Ipoh bean sprout, just the local Kuching bean sprout. Damn lousy meal!. I will never go back for their chicken rice again. Actually I wanted to order toast for which they are quite famous for. but the worries of sugar put me off, especailly kaya and strawberry fillings. Regret....I should have gone to Chicking for chicken rice...much nicer and cheaper too.

Hubby no bring his old man's specs so cannot see the menu thus ask me to order. I ordered Nasi Lemak Special for him ( RM 6.30) and Ipoh Town White coffee ( RM 2.20). That was much nicer than my chicken rice. But he complained that the white coffee is a bit too sweet!

For me , I will not go back to Ipoh Town Kopitiam for the second time..... expensive and not nice ..the food.
