Labuan Marine Musuem

The Marine Museum is one of the components of the Labuan International Water Sports Complex. It is located very near to the town centre. On a cool day it is quite easy just to walk there from the town centre.

Labuan town

Labuan is quite a clean but small town where only chocolates, cigarettes and alcohol are very very cheap. - Carlsbergs are sold at RM 9.50 for 6 tins , imported Cadbury bars are sold at RM 8.50 per bar and 5 litres of Peter Vella deliciously red wine are sold at RM 38 only and 10 packets of Era cigarettes are sold at RM 9.

Some of the more popular and reasonably priced duty free shops in Labuan:

Sky Mart at jetty terminal. Very good business here and customers need to queue up to pay. It opens at 8 am every morning.


Another popular duty free shop, Tai Seng where on request it does give discount on liquor:


Funny name ...moneygain for the shop so moneyloss for customers....


Labuan's town one and only roundabout. That may be the reason why they can afford to keep changing the flowers and also make sure the flowers grow very well all year round.

Labuan trip

We just came back from Labuan after a 6D/5N trip. We flew from Kuching to Kota Kinabalu by Air Asia and stayed overnight at my friend's house in KK. Early next morning at 8.30 am, we boarded the express at Jesselton point to go to Labuan @ RM 36 per pax ( first class) plus tariff tax of RM 3 per pax.




Very calm sea and a comfortable ride of 3 hours along the coastline of Sabah.


Labuan Ferry Terminal where the express stops and it does look like KLIA with all the custom checkings and since we were came in from Sabah we were not checked.


After the 5 days we went back through a different route since we wanted to experience something different. We boarded a ferry next to the ferry terminal at RM 5per pax it took onr hour to reach Menumbok and my god-brother drove us all the way down to Kota Kinabalu in the Honda City which took us one hour and a half to reach KK from Menumbok.

Another over the sea trip

Tonight , another over the sea trip, stopping over in Kota Kinabalu for a night and then jump onto the express tomorrow morning to the duty free island called Labuan to attend a wedding there. This is also my frist trip there so surely I will be come with lots of photos.
Everybody is telling these:
1. Labuan is a very boring place that you can finish exploring in a day
2. Lots of Indonesians there
3. Lots of Philipinos there
4. Cheap beer and wine
5. Cheap chocolates
6. Cheap perfumes
7. Cheap seafood
8. Lots of imported branded cars on the road
9. Beautiful sunsets
10.Lots of " social escorts" there

That is the reason I need to be there to find out whether all these are true.

Sports Day 2008

Sports Days are usually fun day for us, we treated it as family outing and of course it comes with lots of works too.It all depends how we look at it, if you treat it as a serious day, then it is going to be very stressful indeed. But if you look at it from the fun perspective , then it is very enjoyable despite of people complaining right and left about results , positions, delays in events, etc etc.

Memories

Went for a reunion dinner last night , meeting my old classmates of 34 years ago and I haven't met them for the last 34 years. They brought along our old class photos( Did I lost mine or did I buy?) Most probably I didn't buy cos my family was too poor at that time. we couldn't afford even 3 meals a day at that time , what more to say buying class photos?



With invention of digicams, when we saw our old class photos, the obvious reactions were snapped and snapped and recalling all the names of those faces there including our teachers. Teachers who had threw dusters at us and also teachers who were really really dedicated and loved by us.

The best news in 4 years but.....

Got this result from Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia Website cos I don't want to waste 50sen for SMSing my result from that 39003 number.

After trying, striving and thriving for 4 years, at last I got this...and people studying for 4 years can get a degree liao but we after studying for 4 years get a Grade IV without any mortar board ......sigh... sigh...sigh and the biggest SIGH now is : if PTK is abolished as fought by Cuepacs, will this be of any more use to me...??????

so many things have happened...

It has been 20+ days since my last entry and my devoted visitor to my blog was asking me why everyday my blog only show Manukan one.... reason busy busy mah...got so many things happening last 20 days

1. Chasing after the deadline of SR - aiming to earn USD 100 this month..will only know how much I get in 5-6 days time

2. Booking the 6D/5N cruise for my end of year holiday which will also concide with my 51st birthday ...wow..nice way to celebrate birthday hor. Got quite a cheap deal during the recent Singapore Tourism Carnival. The Gemini Cruise will sail from Port Klang/Penang/Krabi/Phuket/Langkawi/Port Klang. It will be a family trip and spending quality time with son#1. Fare per person is RM 1374 for a pampered holiday. For every cabin booked , a FREE DVD player( Made in Malaysia) will be given.

3. 3 nights before, I got a phone call from my god-brother(who is also my cousin)inviting me to Labuan for his eldset son's wedding during this end of May school holiday. Since I have never been to Labuan, without much consideration we booked 2 tickets ( for me and husband) to KK then use ferry to Labuan. Aisehman...never been to KK before, but now 2 KK trips a year....haha

4. Helping son#2 to get important documents for his UK visa extension before he flies back for his hoilday in July.

5. Searching internet for cheap fare for son#2 to fly Manchester-KL and being the peak season for summer holidays and convo season in UK, it seems that flying Manchester - Dubai is no problem but Dubai -KL is a big big problem cos all the flights from Dubai-KL is fully booked as Dubai is now the collecting point for all European and Africa travellers!! In the end we did managed to get a GBP 700 for a return fare while SIA charge GBP 1500 for a return fare during the same season!!

On reflection, this year I really have so many holiday trips:

March-KK
May- KK, Labuan
Sept- Bali
December- Genting, Cameron Highlands, Cruise, then maybe go Bukit Kayu Hitam
