So sad..one of my rich relatives has died.....

Before I pressed the DELETE button , just to show you all how creative people are becoming these days:
This is an email that I just received:

To: OUTSTANDING PAYMENT ( Siapa itu???)

RE: OUTSTANDING PAYMENT.

Good day,

Your Long overdue Payment.

I saw your name ( in the Central Computer among the list of unpaid contractors( am I a contractor in my previous life), inheritance next of kin (WOW??) and lotto beneficiaries that was originated from Africa, Europe, Asia Plus Middle east, Americans ) among the list of individuals and companies that your unpaid fund has been approved.

Your name appeared among the beneficiaries, who will receive a part-payment of your contractual sum and has been approved already for months( WHY I DON"T KNOW HOR??). You are requested to get back to me for more direction and instruction on how to receive your fund.

However, we received an email from one Mr. Robert Walter( is that my lost great great great grandfather??) who told us that he is your next of kin and that you died in a car accident( sobs sobs followed by hahaha...) last week. He has also submitted his account for us to transfer the fund to him including his International passport( when after he died kah?), only , we want to hear from you before we can make the transfer to confirm if you are dead or not. ( nowadays dead people also have email and can email too..)

Once again, I apologize to you on behalf Of IMF (International Monetary Fund)(WOW, WOW WOW!!, are you MR president of IMF??) http://www.imf.org/external/np/omd/bios/rrf.htm failure to pay your funds in time, which according to records in the system had been long overdue. pls Reply through my private information:

Yours Sincerely,
John Benson
IMTERNATIONAL MONATORY( wrong spelling Mr John, it should be INTERNATIONAL MONETARY) FUND (IMF)

P/s Mr John , since I am already dead, as speculated by you , so I will transferred all those overdue payments to you...meanwhile take care while you drive to get those funds hor...

East Valley Camp

Just back from East valley camp after a half day trip there. Wondering where is this East Valley Camp? It is at the 32nd Mile , Jalan Kuching-Serian and about 40 minutes drive away from Kuching town . This is mainly used by Corporate bodies as team building camp or as survey camp for engineers . Nice and peaceful place .

The Admin block and the road leading to the camp

the pond overlooking the hostels:

From the camp we went jungle tracking to a nearby waterfall and we passed one longhouse called Kampung Taee Mawang. These are the scenery on the way to the waterfall:

The camp is really situated in a valley , no wonder it is called East Valley Camp.

These are huts built specially for storing padi and notice the legs of the huts? Those are built to prevent rats and mice from going into the huts to eat their padi...genius people... because rats are not cliffhangers

A rare sight these days .....drying rubber sheets in the sun :

Hill padi and wild mushrooms found on the way to the waterfall:

After half an hour walk at last we reached the untouched beauty: The waterfall

And what is better than nice food prepared by the camp manageress after walking to the waterfall and back to the nice house of the manageress and when your stomach are geeeerrrrrring...

Thank you Florence for the nice food and the warm reception that you have given us.
Anyone interested to have a course or a stay at East Valley Camp you can ring

Single session school

Dear Pak Lah,
It is nice but unrefreshing to hear about this single session school. Unrefreshing because I have heard it 16 years ago. that was the time my sons were still in primary school and they were both in the morning session while me and my husband were teaching in the afternoon session . At that time when it was announced that the government would make all school single session schools , me and my husband were all very happy to hear it. We waited and waited for it to be implemented because it means that we could spend more quality time with our 2 sons at that time since they were so young and leaving them at home in the afternoon was a BIG worry for us.
But now, my sons - one who is already working and the other in university already , we are still hearing the same old story all over again...the story of the single session school and now 16 years later me and my husband are still teaching in this double session school system.
Now my doubt is : Will this be implemented before I retire in 6 years' time?
Thank You. Malaysia Boleh.
chris.

Fear of old age?

Whenever we mention about our age , our retirement , one of my friends has this fear of old age . After a nice talk to her, I came to understand that her greatest fear is loneliness during old age. As a friend I told her why worry about old age with the cyber world around us today and from there I told her about this website: Dating for seniors citizen or they call it senior dating. But please don't get me wrong , dating here just means making new senior friends online and chatting with them and sharing interests together.
Yes, the life of a senior especially single senior can indeed be a very lonely experience, even with the love and support offered by family and friends, nothing can replace the comforts of sharing your life with one special person. This can be especially obvious for seniors who are entering the twilight of their lives,so why linger .check out here for a prefect senior match to help you to share your loneliness, your interests and your problems as a senior because it is always nice to pour our worries and sorrows to a person of our own age, right?
So happy dating to all my senior friends.

Mentor to Novice teacher ??

Just got a letter and a file to appoint me as a mentor to a novice teacher who is a fresh graduate , so she will be observing me and learning how to control discipline while teaching in class today. I welcome her to my class. But personally I am thinking:
1. Class control is not a thing that you can learn straight away in 30 minutes or so. just by looking at how other teacher control the class
2. Class control is slowly built up and it starts from the very first day you enter the class.Tell the students straight away on the first day what you expected from them and what they expected from you.
3. Once you tell the students what you expected from them , by all means carry out what you have told them . For example if you tell them you will punish them if they did not do their homework then you just need to punish them right from the day he did not do his homework..
4. If we expect the students to do what we say then we should do what they do too, like if we want them to wear name tag then we as teachers should wear our name tag too.
5. The most important of all is - we need to earn students' respect. Earning respect is not a matter of overnight thing . It is being built up slowly over the time.
6. We need to be firm and fair in all our class decisions and punishments .
7. The last and most important technique is get to know the names of all your students , be it 200 or 300 names . Because nothing is more effective than to call his name out loud when he misbehaves and that is why during the first week of every school year for the last 27 years , the very first thing I do is - painstakingly remember all my students' names. Hence every year in my hard disk I have around 300 names which I will delete at the end of the school year and getting ready to remeber the new bench of new 300 names . But interestingly our memory are so selective, naughty and good students names will always remain in our memory while the mediocre ones we will just forget. Come to think of it , I have remembered 300X27 names already ...Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Rampant scam call

This news is taken from Borneo Post online today: Headline: Suspicion saves businesswoman from conmen

KUCHING: A businesswoman’s suspicion about her caller’s identity probably saved her from becoming the latest con victim.

The 40-year-old woman, surnamed Bong, from Jalan Hup Kee, said that she received a voice mail at 11.30am yesterday asking her to return the call.

When she called, she was greeted by a man identifying himself as ‘Kamaruzaman from the Kuala Lumpur High Court’ who said that there was a court case pending against her after her bank account was found to be involved in a drug case there.

Kamaruzaman’ further explained that an ‘Inspector Chan from Bukit Aman’ had recently busted a house belonging to a drug dealer known as Lim and that her account number was found inside the house.

A shocked Bong questioned the man as to why she had never received anything in writing stating that she had a court case pending against her.

Instead of answering her, the man instead passed the phone to ‘Inspector Chan’ who berated Bong for apparently not understanding the severity of the situation she was in.

The so-called inspector then asked Bong for her MyKad number and the name of her bank to ‘confirm’ if she was the woman he was looking for.

After passing the details to him, the ‘inspector’ proceeded to ask for Bong’s account number, saying that he needed it to check if it was the same account number involved in the case.

At this juncture, Bong began to grow suspicious and refused to disclose her account number, and questioned again as to why she had not received any official letter from either the court or the police regarding the so-called case.

Instead of answering, the person at the other end hung up.

Bong later lodged a police report over the incident, saying that she was worried as the caller now had her MyKad number and knew which bank she had an account with.

Yesterday’s failed attempt mirrored an earlier scam where a woman from Taman BDC was conned into transferring RM14,000 from her account into another account after she was contacted by a woman claiming to be a ‘court official’.

In the incident, which was reported in thesundaypost on Sept 16, the 26-year-old woman was told that she had a court case pending after her bank account was involved in a drug transaction, and that she had to transfer her money from her account to prevent it from being seized or frozen.

The same thing has happened to 4 of my colleagues these 2 days and 3 of them even get repeated calls to their home phones...God knows where did they manage to get all these phones numbers and names!!! Luckily they are not conned ...so my dear readers of mine ,do be more alert when you receive call like this. Just bang the phone down and tell them to get lost, or like my sis-in-law suggested, get a list of all the curse words ready and curse them back kow kow

Nurin's Blog by her beloved father

What is happening to people these days?
It make me sick to read these news...are you feeling the same or is it only me?
The police has confirmed that the body found in the bag was Nurin according to the latest update from the star . My deepest sympathy goes out to Nurin's parents if the report is true . As a parent, I understand how they feel. We all grieve with Nurin's parents.

Nurin is not the first. May Hong, nine, was raped and strangled just 70m from her home in Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur in 1987. Harirawati, 10, was raped and murdered in Kota Kinabalu on Jan 19,2004. Nine days later, Nurul Huda, also 10, was raped by a security guard in the toilet of the guardpost of Kampung Pekajang in Johor, just 400m away from her house.

What happens to human beings these days ? Why do they do all these evil acts to poor, innocent , helpless children ? A thousand WHYS is running across my minds now!!!

Reading Nurin's blogsite set up by her father bring me to tears .

Badget 2008 .....#%^%#@!*^%$@#%$&*^*&^%$#@#$%^&

Nothing to look forward to at all in this budget... not like Budget 2007 as shown in my old post Budget 2007 a year ago!!
What makes us citizens on the street angry is this :

Effective September 2007, the Government will increase the COLA for students in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada by up to 97%, almost double the current rate.

Imagine civil servants in Sarawak do not get a single sen for COLA but these scholarship students are given COLA almost double to the current rate!!! I have a few colleagues whose privileged sons and daughters are under JPA scholarships studying in UK and US , and they now have a fat account lying in the bank after touring here and there to Europe , Paris with their left over government paid housing and living allowance ( which is also our taxpayer $$$) and now the government is going to give them some more $$$ - the tax payer $$$ for them to enjoy in UK, US and Canada !!!

More over how many of them do come back to serve Malaysia after exhausting our taxpayer $$$?
How to be terbilang ? gemilang ? with all these type of "lang"???

UPSR leaks, UPSR delays - let's de-stress

Okay friends, after 2 continuous posts about that frustrating UPSR. let's de-stress by looking at these beautiful flowers . With Picasa2 and some free software found online I manipulate these photos for my best friend who took all the trouble to wake up at midnight to take these photos cos these flowers will only bloom around midnight and she even lay on the ground to take some fantastic shots...ok let behold the lovely sights:

And a piece of extra info. she also has a cat which is named Boh-boh and she claims that her cat has very high IQ , so high that the musuem requested and framed the cat's pictures up for people to admire.

Two-hour delay in UPSR

First the UPSR leak now Two-hour delay in UPSR exam apalah ini!!! Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

UPSR Mathematics I paper was delayed by some two hours after two bundles of examination papers went missing.!!!! The 151 students were at the school at 7.40am to sit for the paper which was due to start at 8am.

Imagine the tormented kids sitting the Mathematics I paper after waiting for 2 solid hours for the paper to come.......looking like this Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket and like this Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket ... and I as a Mathematics teacher myself really doubt whether they still have a clear mind to think and solve the questions after waiting in the dark for two solids hours!!!!Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

It was delayed because the authorities then found that two bundles of the paper were missing !!!!

The test finally got under way at 9.40am.

The alleged leak, involving section B of the Bahasa Melayu paper and Mathematics paper 2 in UPSR 2007 is said to have been distributed to pupils a week prior to the examination.

Again about Air Asia

WOW... not bad 1 day 2 posts about Air Asia and free promotion some more....
Do you know that we can now check in for our flights on Air Asia via internet and also self check in in LCCT, provided we do not have baggage to check in?

The kiosk provided for self check in looks like the Coca-Cola vending machine. I was at LCCT so out of curiosity , I tried to use the Machine to check in :

It was very user friendly and simple to use with touch screen. All you need to do is to key in your reservation number and then tick the names of person which which to do self check in under that reservation number. Then agreed with all the conditions stated and viola... the boarding pass will be printed and out it comes from the machine, so with that no more queuing at the counter and we can check in 6 hours before the flight.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket to Air Asia..which is so young in aviation industry but in the forefront to improve its services all the time as compared to our Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket MAS
but as Malaysians always say Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Air Asia and Me

I was at LCCT on 28th August 2007, on the way back from KL to Kuching after attending my son's convocation. Before reaching LCCT I got a phone call from Air Asia telling me they have rescheduled my flight :The conversation goes like this:
Air Asia's personnel :Mdm Christina, did u received our SMS telling you that your
flight at 8.25 am had been rescheduled?
Me: No
Air Asia's personnel : Okay, we are ringing to tell you that your flight has been
rescheduled to 1.50 pm
Me: Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket 1.50 pm ?
Cannot lar..by the time I reached Kuching, it will be too late
already because I am supposed to go back and teach . Moreover I did not apply
any leave for that day .

Air Asia's personnel : What about 12.15 pm flight ?
Me : Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Still too
late for me lar
Air Asia's personnel : Then I will try to arrange an earlier flight for you.... just
let me check...Ok there is a flight at 7.10 am , is it
alright?
Me: Yes , it is very alright ( cos I can reach Kuching earlier than my booked flight
so no need to rush to schoool, can even afford to have a short nap before I go
to school with this new schedule)
Air Asia's personnel: Okay so it is confirmed that your flight will be rescheduled
to 7.10 am instead of 8.25 am
Me : Tenkiu, tenkiu

So the moral of the lesson for friends out there , next time if you do recieve the SMS from Air Asia do ring the telephone numbers provided at the end of their SMS and
negiotiate the best time for yourself, instead of getting stuck in LCCT for God knows how many hours
