Burnley

Walk to burnley on our own today. Burnley is one of the towns in Lancashire.

This is how the whole of UK looks like at this time of the year.

Botak trees, gloomy weather and drizzling rain...like son#2 says in UK you see one town, you see all cos they all look the same...

Saw some very interesting signs on our way to Burnley town:

Got to go in and check?

We went to the famous Charter Walk of Burnley

Okay, which part of you that you wanted to get pierced, ring or bar ?? Then check here for the price charged.

Since we love to visit UK markets which has its own uniqueness, this is another one:
This is more like the flea market and you will be surprised that many angmoh patronised shops like these. Things here are marked new or used for shoppers. Original Levi jacket only costs GBP4!! Brand new Adidas jackets GBP 10!!
Cheese...all types and sorts.....you name it they got it...
I bought this super fresh and super cheap cauliflower to cook veggies soup this evening....39p only!!!
Lovely X'mas cake ...how I wish I can taste them !!
Ox's tongue..dare to eat?

Nice angmoh's hairstyle and colour hor??

Another X'mas decor:

Super huge banana bought from Burnley supermarket:

And this whole big bag of potatoes only costs 65p which I bought to cook Malaysian curry for son#2. The potatoes here are super fresh and super nice too!

York ...UK favourite city

Went to York from Bradford @GBP10.60 pp return. York is a place of living history of the Vikings.

We walked through the two-mile, 2000 years old historic city wall to get a loftier view of York city.

The cross slit in the wall is just enough for shooting the bow and arrow across.

Castles like this is a common sight in York.

We also visited York Minster, the largest gothic cathedral in Northern Europe, a place of worship for over 1000 years.

And the MonkBar:

and York's bustling streets with lots of tourists from all over the world.

There are lots of guided river tours along River Ouse which we did not take because of the freezing cold weather that hovers around one or two degrees!!

The place we like most is still the market place where you can see a lot of local flavour and life of local people here. It looks more like our Petaling Street back home except for the weather of course.

Locally dried candied fruits

Hahaha...monkey nuts are actually groundnuts because they are meant for monkeys and not humans!!

The Christmas atmosphere at York Train station.

Christmas shopping

Christmas is in the air. Everywhere in UK now, be it train station or shopping complexes, you can see Christmas decors. This is the best time of the year where you can get good bargain for things be it in stores or buying online.

Bradford

In winter here , the days are really short and the nights are long. If you travel in UK you seldom see people outside their houses like we have back home in Malaysia. The only place you can see lots of people is, in the streets of bigger towns, and they are all busy doing their Christmas shopping.

Look at this picture and guess what time of the day it is:

This picture is taken at 4.30 pm and it is already dark and the street lights are already on!

All these X'mas decor are lit up by 4pm .

Since Bradford is so famous for its curry, we tried them at Omar's last night.

Once seated they will serve you plain water in this bottle:

Then appetiser will be served ...some Indian keropok and sauces:

We ordered 3 types of curries, 2 lambs and one chicken curry cooked with banana and pineapple.

For every curry ordered , you can choose to have rice or 3 chapatti. We have chapatti instead of rice.
When we finished all the curries, when you ask for bill, they will hand the bill with these small brightly coloured sweet minty sweets.

The curries are a bit too sweet tasting not like Malaysian Indian curries. here all curries are cooked with milk and yogurt. But they are very filling indeed. We are so full that we can't even finish the chapatti. okay I know you are wondering how much does that meal cost....

one set of curry with 3 chapatti costs 4.70 GBP so 3 sets costs 14.70 GBP which is equivalent to our RM 14.70. But if you convert to RM......... X 7 then you will surely pengsan!!
