Viral tag

Everyone who owns and maintains a blog understands just how important Page Rank is! This includes your ranking in Technorati, Alexa, Google PR, SERP (Search Engine Result Page), etc. Are you happy or satisfied with your current Page Rank? I'm quite sure you're not, or you won't be reading this post! ;) A few weeks ago a fellow by the name of Andy Coates started a link building concept that helps bloggers increase their Page Rank. This concept is called Viral Linking. A lot of bloggers from all over immediately jumped on the train and are now enjoying some really good link loving that's increasing their Page Rank. Nice huh?

So! If you're serious about boosting your Page Rank, then read carefuly and do these simple steps!

Instructions:

1.) Copy and paste the entire matrix of “ViralTags” below.

2.) Substitute the Host Tag and one of the “ViralTags” in the matrix with your anchor text of choice containing your blog’s URL. Please keep anchor text to a maximum of 3 words to keep the matrix size manageable.

3.) When you get a ping back from someone that has your link in one of their “ViralTags”, practice good karma by copying his/her Host Tag’s anchor text (automatically the associated link will also be copied) and paste it over one of your “ViralTags” below.

4.) Encourage and invite your readers to do the same and soon this can grow virally.

As more and more bloggers copy and paste this matrix, the more backlinks you will have from your anchor text. If everybody who copies and pastes from your blog does the same, pretty soon this will spread and go viral. Remember, the sooner you participate, the more links you will receive!

Google = Guge

Google has announced that henceforth its Chinese name is Guge (pronounced “goo” and “geh”) That sounds somewhat like Google, but translates as “Valley Song.” A bit out of place for a company as cool as Google. The new name has prompted a backlash, with 12,180 people signing an online petition at a new site called Noguge.

At the top of the page is the familiar Google logo, with a red X blotting out the Guge name.

There's also this blurb: “The name Guge makes us sick! Moreover it makes us feel hopeless!”

Other Popular suggested alternatives from the Chinese include:

狗狗 – GouGou, meaning Dog-Dog. This is currently Chinese people’s favorite way of referring to the baffled search engine. Earlier this week, Google dwelled on the shortcomings of its canine nickname in reaction to queries from a local newspaper: "Names such as Gougou (dog dog) are unable to fulfill the responsibilities of a corporate, brand or product name, nor do they reflect fully our goals and mission."

够了 – GouLe, meaning enough (is enough ).

姑姑 – GuGu, meaning sister in law or aunt. ???

割乳 – GeRu, meaning cut off/shave your breast. ????

古狗 – GuGou, old dog.

狗哥 – GouGe, dog-brother, or doggish old brother.

孤狗 – GuaGou, an orphaned dog. ???

千度 – QianDu, doesn’t sound exactly like the original, but keeps some of the meaning - "a thousand times" - while playing on the name of local competitor BaiDu ("a hundread times").

果果 – GuoGuo, double fruit.

自由狗 – ZiYouGou, Independent dog.

哥哥 – GeGe, older brother ( as opposed to Big Brother).

呱呱 – GuaGua, the Chinese equivalent of quack-quack, the noise made by (Peking?) ducks.

Microsoft’s name is Weiruan, 微軟 which doesn’t sound anything like “Microsoft” but benefits from having two characters that literally mean “Micro” and “Soft.” Not bad.

Yahoo does even better: Its name is Yahu 雅虎 , which not only sounds like its English name but also translates nicely, meaning “graceful tiger.”

Apple and Cisco have good names, too:
Apple has Pingguo ,

which not surprisingly means “Apple,”

and Cisco has Sike (sih kuh) 思科 , which means “thinking science.”

so what is Ebay and paypal in Chinese?

so what is my name in Chinese?
Name : Christina
Chinese characters : 克里斯蒂娜
Pinyin : Kè lǐ sī dí nà

New Brand of School Teachers

Do you all agree with these?

The great majority of school teachers nowadays hate teaching, learning, studying and hate children too. These are teachers who barely passed their SPM and found themselves as teachers because our politics dictates that these people be given jobs even if it means making our children silly in the process.

These so-called teachers would rather be out there doing direct selling or promoting get-rich-quick schemes, etc. How can such riff-raff be educators?

this is from today Borneo Post.

As a teacher myself , I would like to hear comments from my fellow readers who are also parents and students . Do you agree or disagree with these statements? Any comments anyone?

Money from Heaven

Last month i signed up for the Entertainment News Feed found on my blog sidebar on the right. It helps me to keep abreast of news while i am typing and doing my work on my com. At that time they offer us USD50 voucher for signing up, I was not so attracted to the voucher because i was thinking how to shop in Malaysia with USD50 voucher and moreover it is true that they will really give us USD50 just for signing up??
Tonight i received this email:

USD 50 Gift Certificate For XXXXXXX From Ugive microsite .‎
From: corporateawards@globoforce.com
You may not know this sender. Mark as safe | Mark as unsafe
Sent: Tuesday, June 19, 2007 11:31:50 PM

globogift.com
Gift Certificate
GloboCertificate ID: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX USD 50

This is your GloboCertificate. You can exchange it for gift certificates from 1,000's of retailers worldwide. Please read how to do this in the e-mail.

I was still skeptical when I saw the email because Malaysia being such a small country where can I exchange my gift certificate???

But as I find out further from the website given in the email..... HOOLALA ... got Parkson for Malaysia moh and the best of the best thing is the USD50 can be converted to RM and after conversion it is RM 161.80 so I converted it to RM 160 Parkson's voucher. Not bad ..not bad at all ... that is what I mean $$$ from heaven
The next best of the best thing is that you can track and check the delivery status of your gift voucher by entering your tracking number issued after all the transaction processes of exchanging the gift voucher to RM

So now till the day I received my Parkson's voucher I am thinking hard and real hard on what to buy for myself at Parkson for RM 160.... suggestions from readers are most welcome!!!

HbA1c

Just got back my HbA1c results: 5.7% ( normal range :<6%).

Congratulations to myself for all the efforts and preserverance the last 6 months .

In case you all don't know what HbA1c is : in simple layman terms it just mean how much glucose have stuck to your haemoglobin for the last 6 months.

As for medical explanation :In the blood stream are the red blood cells, which are made of a molecule, haemoglobin. Glucose sticks to the haemoglobin to make a 'glycosylated haemoglobin' molecule, called haemoglobin A1C or HbA1C. The more glucose in the blood, the more haemoglobin A1C or HbA1C will be present in the blood.

Red cells live for 8 -12 weeks before they are replaced. By measuring the HbA1C it can tell you how high your blood glucose has been on average over the last 8-12 weeks. A normal non-diabetic HbA1C is 3.5-6.0 %.

But I still need to stay far far away from sugary and starchy food for the rest of my life.

My last HbA1c was taken on 26/01/07 and it was 8.9% then. Yam...Seng

Before and After

Before the marriage:

He: Yes. At last. It was hard waiting.

She: Do you want me to leave?

He: NO! Don't even think about it.

She: Do you love me?

He: Of course!

She: Have you ever cheated on me?

He: NO! Why you even asking?

She: Will you kiss me?

He: Yes!

She: Will you hit me?

He: No way! I'm not such kind of person!

She: Can I trust you?

Now after the marriage you need to read it from bottom to the top !!!!

Tokoh Guru Kebangsaan 2007

All teachers out there please read these, from a very wise man :- Mr. Gerald Lee Leong Ai, recipient of this year Tokoh Guru Kebangsaan.

1. All teachers must have the 3Fs - Fair, Friendly and Firm . He practises throughout his career as an educator … and even now. He strongly believes this is what a teacher should be.Sometimes to be kind, we have to be strict. We punish them so that they will realise their mistakes and avoid them and change for the better.”

2. In whatever work we are assigned to, we must give it our very best to get it successfully accomplished. This is especially so in the case of civil servants or even in the public sector, because we are paid to do it. So we must do a good job, whatever they may be, that have been assigned to us.

3.Always make it a point, first and foremost, to look after our students’ welfare because that’s basically why we are in school — to look after the students. Without students, there will be schools, no teachers.

4.A teacher’s role should include touching the hearts of students and helping them to change positively.

5. If we want the country to be developed, we must have the best people as teachers. It is very important to uphold image of the noble profession and attract the best people instead of settling for those who chose to teach as a last resort.

6.Teachers must carry out their work with a kind heart. Students will remember teachers because of the care and special attention paid to them.

7. Teachers must be responsible and accountable, trying to make a difference in the lives of those they worked with and making their schools a happy and conducive place for everyone.

8. Teachers don’t work for awards. It’s not the awards you win that is important but the recognition by the teachers, students and parents

Heartiest Congratulations to Mr Gerald Lee. ( fondly known to the students as General Lee). We, staffs , students and ex- students from SMB St Joseph, Kuching are indeed very proud of you.

Full extract of Mr Lee's vision , mission , study life, career life, dreams, wise advice to parents and students can be found in today's Borneo Post

When tragedy strikes.....

Imagine this scenario:
Wedding party . Everybody is merrymaking and happy.

Ricky went out to urinate and the suspect fired a shot at him, injuring him.

The shooting was heard by the rest and when Meluda walked out to check he was also shot at and dropped dead.

Coming out next were Kerin, Jimbun and Galau. They were all shot dead.

On seeing the shooting spree, Paulus ran out, intending to go to his bedroom next to the longhouse to protect his children.

“I saw my husband being shot as he ran. When the suspect saw that he had not dropped dead, he slashed his face. My husband dropped dead in front of our room.” said his wife.

5 lives gone just like that after being shot at by a foreigner who they believed could have been full of resentment as he was regularly mocked for being a foreigner in the community.

Really what a tragedy !!!!. I just can't believe it is a true story happening in Song, Sarawak yesterday.

Full reports of the news can be found in today's Borneo Post

All Bloggers out there : WATCH OUT

Future Competition for Human Bloggers: Super Intelligent Robot Bloggers

In the near future all human bloggers may face a new threat - robots that blog. These robot bloggers may have the advantage of having processors that are faster than our human brains and the ability to interface directly with the Internet. No typing is necessary for these robots.

South Korea's government also predicts robot surgeons by 2018.
A recent government report forecast that robots would routinely carry out surgery by 2018. Would you like to be operated by robots??

An UK study predicts that robots will demand the same rights as human beings before 2060. If the robots are smart enough to demand rights they sure will have no problem blogging or blogging for $$$ right??

Even if all these robot predictions come true we humans should have at least another decade or two to blog freely without the threat of robotic competition. So blog while you can before the robots take over our role and before they blog for $$$ too!!!

Just wonder if robots blog, what rank they will be in Google Page Rank and Alexa Ranking hor??

Perspirations Vs Inspirations

I have been hunting for a bedroom set for my son who has been sleeping with mattress on the floor for a long time . Lousy Court Mammoth !!!. When I last went there to check the BECKY bedroom set last 26th May the sale person said that there was no stock available .Yesterday I rang the sale person again and asked whether the BECKY bedroom set was already here and she said need to check with the warehouse and she would return my call .. waited for the whole day yesterday for her call but it never came!!! So i went there personally just now to check .
On reaching there, the sale person said that the set is here in the warehouse but they cannot display the set because the demand is so high... since so many people are interested to buy that set. Fair enough. Then she asked me to pay first, then they will send the set to my house. Of course, I, as a consumer like to know when the bedroom set will be delivered if I pay her now. After checking with the office personnel she said it will be delivered in 2 weeks' time and the worst of the worst thing is from tomorrow onwards - 4th June all deliveries ...even if your house is just next door to Courts Mammoth..... will be charged RM 20 extra for the cost of delivery...Out of curiosity I asked her why suddenly need to charge RM 20 extra... she say because gaji naik ( pay rise) so need to pay extras !!!!! What the heck??? Is this what they so called INSPIRATION???

Or should it be :

How to do business like that ?? You are scaring customers off lar!!!. Lousy service we can still bear with you but extra charges for delivering just because of pay rise ... sorry lar ... no more inspirations from us consumers ..

PTK

I am going to sit for my 5th PTK test this coming Thursday Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
.... have been getting 3 for the last four tests . To get a promotion I need a 4 which means not less than 8 wrong in the objective paper of 40 questions where every questions seems to have two answers to choose from . Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Hence this time around need to buy a dice to cast for the answers and the important thing is to have the dice blessed before the examination. Is this the way our competency towards our profession are tested as a teacher!!!. No matter how good a teacher in class I am if I fail or did not get a 4 for my PTK , my hard work will never be recognised and there will be no promotion for me at all...sobs... sobs.

Reading this from The Star makes me more comforted a bit:

"JOHOR BARU: Barely a week after civil servants were granted a hefty pay rise, Cuepacs has wasted no time in coming up with another list of “demands.”

Among the pressing issues are the abolishment of the Efficiency Level Assessment (PTK) and the increase of the civil servants’ retirement age from 56 to 60 years.

Omar said the PTK was a failure and Cuepacs did not want any more assessment based on tests.
He said the only ones in favour of the PTK was a small group of higher ranking officials “who do not have to take the test.” Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

He said that studies done by Cuepacs showed that the objectives of the test were not met and that it was not standardised and not relevant to some workers.

“Some of the workers have only Year Six or Form Two qualifications. How are they to pass the test?

“We don’t want tests. We are the implementers, not the thinkers,” he said, adding that the PTK should be replaced with evaluated courses to promote lifelong learning.

He also dismissed the suggestion of civil servants sitting for exams after attending courses, claiming that would cost the Government too much money.

Omar said that it would be embarrassing for someone with 30 years of service to fail the test despite having practical experience. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

“This will cause loss of image for the more senior workers,” he added."

The Stock Market Anthem

According to the latest news from Taipei times :

Students are also lining up with people from all segments of Chinese society seeking to profit from the red-hot stock market, which has tripled in value since January last year. The number of new trading accounts in China rocketed to 5 million in the first quarter of this year, compared with 3.08 million last year.

Officials both in China and abroad have repeatedly cautioned investors they could lose everything if the bubble were to pop.The stock market fever in China is so high till some creative people come up with this new anthem:

Arise, Arise, Arise,
Ye who haven’t opened an account,
With all your money
Let us invest in the tempting stock market
The People in
China are in the most
crazy time,
Everyone must roar his defiance
Up fast
Up fast
Up fast (stock market)!
Millions of hearts with one mind
Get rich quick!
More Money!
More money!
More money

instead of the original anthem:

March of the Volunteers
Arise,
Ye who refuse to be slaves!
With our very flesh and blood,
Let us build our new Great Wall!
The peoples of China are in the most critical time,
Everybody must roar his defiance.
Arise!
Arise!
Arise!
Millions of hearts with one mind,
Brave the enemy's gunfire, March on!
Brave the enemy's gunfire, March on!
March on!
March on!
March on!

Mid Year School break is here

Everybody is looking forward to the mid year semester break which will be 2 weeks long . Every year this holiday will coincide with the unique Gawai Harvest Festival in Sarawak and for visitors this is the best of the best time to visit Sarawak , Land of the Hornbill. The festival begins during the last week of May and continues well before the big day and have their own small scale Gawai feast at the end of their harvests.

It is celebrated by the Iban, Bidayuh and the Orang Ulu communities . The elders perform traditional rites. Everyone dresses in their beautiful traditional costumes and there is lots of food and drink. Tuak (rice wine) and an array of traditional food are generously served along the ruai (verandah) and bilik ( room )in every longhouse. Widespread celebrations are held not only in the main cities and towns but also in the interior settlements.

Gawai is an occasion for parties, fun and games, processions and ‘open houses’. At rural dwellings, especially in roadside villages and remote villages, guests are expected to taste tuak and eat at each household. Thus in a 30 door longhouse with a family living behind each door,it means partaking in festivities over and over again. Music and dancing usually follow to liven up the mood.

Obviously, Gawai Dayak is the best and the most interesting time to visit Sarawak as you can see and sample the lifestyle and its festivities. All visitors are warmly received and accepted as new friends even if they happen to be strangers. It will definitely be a happy time for all concerned.

An Unexpected Email!!

I have been editing and editing on all the 4 posts that I have submitted for PPP- PayPerPost after they were rejected for technical reasons that I will share with my readers later on. This morning after the usual editing , I went marketing to buy fish for my lunch. When I am back... checked my email and found 1 new mail....I was thinking to myself ...OMG...post rejected again ....but to my surprise instead it is :

Hello Christina Kong,

This is a notification letting you know that your PayPerPost post, Top 5 reasons
why I love PPP, has been approved. Tell your friends how quick and easy that
was!

So this is the first time my post is approved ... hurray hurray...as I say it is not the $$$ that counts...it is the self satisfaction and recognition that matter most to us as bloggers.

For the technical parts why my posts was rejected as information to those who are interested to sign up for PayPerPost:

1. There should be no advertisement or promotional items at all in the paid post especially the content links advertisement
2.You must have a disclosure policy in your blog. I learn slowly to find out how to write one as I am not a lawyer by profession.
3.Paid posts cannot not be consecutive. Each paid post must be separated by at
least one non-PayPerPost.

But thumbs up for the PayPerPost team for they give us a lot of chances to edit our posts before they are approved. As you know editing our posts really takes up a lot of their time .

So are you interested to blog for money too? Then quick quick sign up with the forms found at my sidebar here. Good luck and all the best .
