Buffet lunch at Tai Wu, Manchester Chinatown

Went to Tai Wu , Manchester Chinatown for buffet lunch. The old price for November was GBP4.95 pp but since we went there on 1st December the price has increased to GBP 5.50 pp.

Tai Wu is doing brisk business here. The shop is full of patrons, even the ang-mohs go there for lunch. Our original plan was to go for the half-price dim-sum also at Tai Wu, which starts at 12 noon but the dim-sum place was so full that there is a long queue outside waiting to go in so we switched to buffet lunch instead.

Observed what the English people took for lunch...the super starchy corn soup . potatoes chips , veggies ,fried stuffs like fried potoatoes, fried brinjals and fried apples too. By then they all so full already...sure Tai Wu makes a lot of $$$ from them
For us we skipped rice, tried some fried mee and Cantonese noodles , tried all the carnivorous foods, lots of mussels, nice creamy ice cream with coconut jelly , fruits and salads,

This big pot of Chinese Tea costs 70p.

Price list: Please squint your eyes to read cos it is a bit blurry...

Keeyit,
Chinese food are the same everywhere. It is just that warm feelings in you when you step into Chinatown. The identity with species of the same kind as you and the familiar food when you are in foreign land.

helen,
I absolutely agree with you. chinese brains are like those abascus...lol

This is actually the best chinese buffet restaurant in manchester. True, the english load their dishes with rice and noodles, while the chinese get the more value for money stuff. I think this is one of the reason they only have prawns with shells on, to not make it too easy for you to eat too many. I once went to a buffet with lobsters and felt so embarassed when a group of chinese students took it all as soon as it was served leaving none for others. I moved my seat to keep my distance as I did not want to be associated with this kind of behaviour.
